1. Information We Collect
   1. Chat Messages:
      All conversations are public and may be displayed on the detrans.ai homepage. Conversations include the country associated with your IP address at the time of writing. All chat records may be analysed and used for research purposes. Please avoid sharing any sensitive or identifying information.
   2. Cookies / Tracking Technologies:
      We do not use cookies, pixel tags, or any similar client-side tracking mechanisms.
   3. IP Addresses:
      We store your IP address to prevent abuse and enforce rate limits. For anonymous public conversations, we use your IP address to determine your country, which is displayed alongside the conversation. IP addresses are stored with conversation records and retained in order to prevent abuse of the service.
   4. Optional Data:
      If you choose to contact us , we may collect the information you voluntarily supply (e.g., email address, name). Providing this information is optional unless explicitly stated.
   5. AI Processing:
      Your messages are processed by third-party AI providers (currently OpenRouter) to generate responses. Training on your conversations is disabled. Please refer to OpenRouter's privacy policy for details on how they handle data.
   6. Bot Detection (hCaptcha):
      We use hCaptcha, a third-party service provided by Intuition Machines, Inc., to protect against automated abuse. hCaptcha may collect your IP address, browser information, and interaction data (such as mouse movements and keystroke patterns) to determine whether you are human. This data is subject to hCaptcha's own privacy policy. hCaptcha uses only consent-exempt cookies necessary for its service.
2. Legal Bases for Processing (EU/EEA visitors)
   1. Rate-limit processing is necessary for our legitimate interests under GDPR Art. 6(1)(f) — specifically, maintaining service availability and security.
   2. Any additional processing (e.g., account creation) is based on your consent or contractual necessity, as applicable.
3. How Long We Keep Data
   All chat records, including associated IP addresses and country data, are preserved. Voluntary information (e.g., support emails) is retained only as long as needed to resolve your inquiry or satisfy legal obligations.
4. Third-Party Sharing
   We may choose to share anonymised chat records with academics and researchers who are looking to improve outcomes for people experiencing gender dysphoria. Your messages are processed by third-party AI providers (currently OpenRouter) to generate responses — training on conversations is disabled. We use hCaptcha (Intuition Machines, Inc.) for bot detection, which may process your IP address and interaction data. We may disclose IP addresses or other data only when required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public (e.g., fraud prevention, court order).
5. Security
   We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures (TLS encryption, access controls, least-privilege design) to protect data in transit and at rest.
6. International Transfers
   Our servers are located in the United States. If you access the service from outside the U.S., you understand that your IP address will be transmitted to, and processed in, the United States.
7. Children's Privacy
   Our service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us for immediate deletion.
8. Changes to This Policy
   We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective Date" at the top will change, and significant changes will be posted prominently.
